Being now is often talked about, in a religious sense - I'm talking about the simple sense of now which every animal has, and we could so easily relearn.

When focussing, we can only find a sense of completion, a sense of being full and now, when we manage to coordinate our focussing with our concentration, and this only ocurrs naturally when we experience something beautiful or awesome.

Focussing, when coordinated with concentration, is a state of intense alertness. When broadbanding, mental concentration is not a seperate element to be coordinated, it is part of the act of sensing. Broadbanding is intense alertness.

Listening Out and Nowness
Listening has an immediacy which the other senses don't have, and this is because sounds are sometimes very sudden and over in a split second. Smells and sights usually last at least a few seconds.

Possibly in ancient times, humans and animals only needed to listen. Nowadays with the constant humm of traffic, it is necessary to listen out, to listen actively.

Listening out is full of suprises. Listen in all directions, near and far, high and low. I often listen out for distant dogs and children - at night, for hedgehogs and owls. I don't often hear them, that's irrelevant, listening out for them is the vital part.

By empathising with the animals intensity of broadband awareness, especially by listening out, we can't think. If we start thinking, we stop being aware, and in that moment an animal would be vulnerable.

How to be Now and Neutralise the Self Perpetuating Wheels of Thought
Being now is far more than just 'not thinking', but not thinking is the first obvious effect.

Throughout evolution, going broadband has been the unquestionable and natural way to switch off, stop doing everything and be receptive for a moment. Animals know it's vital, to periodically check their surroundings, and be fully aware of what's happening around them. And for animals, this is a constant reminder of how it feels to be still, inside and outside, and to be now.

Without trying it out, you might feel as though there is so much happening, that it would make you crazy to be aware of it all. And it would make you crazy if you had to focus and concentrate on all of it; but to be aware of it all in a broadband way, you can't think at the same time.

Broadband sensing is useless for getting on in life, and doing things, but it is very effective against pointless abstract thought. And it's nothing mystical or paradoxical .. it's just practical. Without focussing on anything you can't start thinking about it, and consequently you can't want it, or want to do it. Broadbanding devolves the thinking systems.

In the short term, it stops the continuous chatter in our minds, it's a moments simple and direct peace of mind, a moment of feeling still inside, a feeling of integration with the world around us.

This is not like a meditation for ten minutes. What i'm suggesting is half a minute, three times a day, (at least to start with) to check everything is safe. A bit like animals use it.

In the long term, it benefits clear thinking, and it's the optimal cure for, and safeguard against, closed mindedness. This strikes me, as the main benefit individually and culturally.

Broadband sensing interrupts the automatic repetition and re-confirmation of all abstract thoughts. Self righteous opinions lose their generating energy, because they lose their automatic re-confirmation.

Common to All People of all Cultures
Broadband sensing is a direct connection (it's more than a relationship) with the immediate environment. The senses are seen as the door between us and the world outside of us. In a broadband reality our senses connect us with the world. The feeling is : we are the door.

Broadbanding is an attitude to life, it's a way to be, it opens up another dimension of an individuals relationship with the world, of feeling part of the whole.

In itself it is very normal, nothing special - any animal can do it ... maybe the only really fascinating thing, is what makes me write: how we've lost this ability, and have become so completely blind to it and the possibilities and potential it has.

It's reliable, easy and natural. Anyone of any culture could do it, whatever their focussed beliefs. It's not a new religion, it's a vital part of the original ancient way of being. It's in the human make up. It's a common denominator among all creatures and people of all cultures. It could be a great unifying factor for people of all cultures.
